Future events

How planned lump sum payments, interest rate changes, and payment updates are modelled in your scenario, and how effective dates and ordering are applied.

Future events

Future events let you model planned changes in your scenario. They apply to your scenario only, the minimum baseline ignores all events. Your stored payment amount on the property is not changed by events; events only affect forward projection math.

Lump sum payment

Reduces the balance before that period’s interest is calculated. If the lump sum zeroes the balance, payoff occurs in that period. Lump sums cannot exceed the simulated balance at the effective date.

Interest rate change

Sets a new absolute interest rate from the effective period onward. Optionally, you can also set a new payment amount from that date. If no payment is specified, the current effective payment continues unchanged.

Payment update

Sets a new regular payment from the effective period onward, for example, modelling a future pay rise or planned increase. Not tied to a rate change on the same date.

Effective dates: events before the first scheduled payment apply at the start of period 1 (the UI shows a notice). Otherwise, an event applies at the start of the period whose payment date is the first on or after the event date.

Same-date ordering: when multiple events share an effective date, they are applied in order: lump sums first, then rate changes, then payment updates. A payment update on the same date as a rate change with a new payment wins (applied last).
